Welcome to St Edmund's & St Joseph's

As catholic schools it is the celebration of our Faith which gives us our unique character and makes our community so special. Our Mission Statement 'Learning Together in God's Love by encouraging and supporting one another' has been chosen to reflect the journey each individual makes as they grow spiritually and academically during their career with us.

We have begun working towards the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award. Children have learned about the rights of every child which are enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Our aim is to help our children to grow in confidence through their continuing experience of our inclusive rights-respecting school community and to develop and extend our rights-respecting ethos. Our learning about the rights of every child is helping our children to play an even more active role in their learning and to speak and act for the rights of all to be respected locally and globally.

We are delighted to be able to say that both St Edmunds and St Josephs were the first two schools in Suffolk to be awarded the Silver Linguamarque and more recently in 2017 St Edmunds was awarded the coveted Gold Linguamarque Award. Primary Languages (PL) have become a statutory requirement in schools and the Suffolk Linguamarque was a new initiative that was launched to enable schools to audit how languages are embedded in their curriculum. Having gained the Bronze and subsequently the Silver, we are thrilled that St Edmunds is the first school in East Anglia to have achieved the Gold award, which validates consistent progress in French and a whole school commitment to delivering Primary Languages in a vibrant, enthusiastic and exciting manner. Thank you to Mrs Wallace (our PL leader) and Mrs Brewster for their hard work in supporting all of the staff across the partnership to embed languages within our curriculum provision.

A huge well done to the St Edmund's gardening club for being awarded ‘Gold’ in this year’s Bury in Bloom Green Fingers Award Scheme. A group of the pupils who attend the gardening club enjoyed attending the award ceremony with Mrs Vince and Mrs Leighton at The Apex. Not only did they collect their Gold award, but they also received an 'Outstanding Achievement' award too to acknowledge the amount of work that had been put in to set up the gardening area.

We’re proud of the success that their hard work has achieved.
